8 DAY INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU TOUR
Day 1 - Arrival in Lima, Peru
Upon arrival to Lima, you will be greeted and driven to your selected hotel. If staying at the Lima airport Costa del Sol Ramada, you will only need to walk out the airport exit and across the street to your evening accommodations.
Day 2 - Lima to Cuzco
Travelling from Lima to Cuzco you will have gone from sea level to 11,500 feet. The first day you will be free to relax and acclimatize to the altitude. If you’re feeling up to it, the city center is pedestrian-friendly and makes for a great stroll. Depending on preference and price level we’re happy to recommend the city’s best options for dining and shopping.
Day 3 - Cuzco City Tour
Experience firsthand the remnants of the great Incan capital. At Sacsayhuaman you will see the largest and most impressive stonework of Pre-Columbian America. Your visits to the Koricancha and the main cathedrals will highlight the differences between Native American and European architecture.
Inca Trail Day 1 - Cuzco to Wayllabamba
Heading out early from your Cuzco hotel, you will travel by private transport to Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley, and continue another hour to the start of the trail at Km 82. Walking for about 3 hours along the trail you will arrive at the Llactapata ruins, and then continuing through a lush valley, you will arrive at the evening campsite of Wayllabamba.
Inca Trail Day 2 - Wayllabamba to Pacaymayo
Today is the most challenging portion of the trail, as you climb 3 hours to Warmiwañusca, known as Dead Woman’s Pass, at 13,780 feet. From the top you'll be able to take in breakthaking views of the surrounding valleys and enjoy a tremendous sense of accomplishment. Descending, you arrive at the campsite of Pacaymayo.
Inca Trail Day 3 - Pacaymayo to Wiñay Wayna
After ascending to the Runkurakay pass at 13,123 feet, you will receive a guided tour of the ruins at Runkurakay and Sayacmarca. Lunch will be served at Phuyupatamarca, another important archaeological site, and the trek will continue to Wiñay Wayna, where you will receive a guided tour of the ruins and make camp for the evening.
Inca Trail Day 4 - Machu Picchu to Cuzco
Rising early to make it for sunrise over Machu Picchu, you will hike for about an hour to reach the “Sun Gate”, where you will get your first view of Machu Picchu. Descending into the ruins, you will enjoy a 2 hour guided tour. The afternoon is free to continue to explore the ruins on your own before heading back to Cuzco via a scenic train ride.
Day 8 - Cuzco to Lima
On your final day you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Lima. (Optional recommended excursion) - Depending on the time of your international flight out a private tour of Lima's key sites can be arranged. You will visit the Larco Archaeological Museum, the San Francisco Monastery and its catacombs, Lima's historic colonial squares, and the picturesque waterfront district Miraflores.
